Peak Reality Check

It's no-holds barred as Gary, Dee and Lyn discuss topics of local, national and international concern. Politics, religion, and reality are on the table. Who's on the menu this week?

May 14, 2018

Gary, Lyn and Dee discuss politics and current events.  This week’s topics include Government vs. the People.  Who is our government serving?  Is it serving the voters or the donors?  We discuss Stockton, CA new program of Universal Basic Income.  We bring up Dee’s favorite subject of public internet.  We voted on it in November of 2016 and our City and County government has so far done nothing to bring this to fruition.  Other cities in Colorado voted in November 2017 and are already far ahead of us!  We discuss the study done by a Koch backed group to prove regulations cost jobs.  The only problem is that the study proved they don’t.  The surprising thing is that the study got published!  We discuss the passing of the new California housing regulation, all houses built in California after 2020 will be required to have solar panels.  This is the kind of forward thinking we could use here.  We discuss the new possible regulation Seattle would impose on employers to help pay for affordable housing.  Seattle is having a huge problem with affordable housing.  We also discuss the experimental program of Universal Basic Income in Canada.
