Peak Reality Check

It's no-holds barred as Gary, Dee and Lyn discuss topics of local, national and international concern. Politics, religion, and reality are on the table. Who's on the menu this week?

Apr 30, 2018

Gary and Dee discuss politics and current events.  Lyn is on vacation this week.  We discuss questions asked of people running for Congress who want endorsements from the current Republican Administration.  There are questions to offend everyone.  We discuss the brilliant decision by the city council to bankrupt the city of Colorado Springs.  The geniuses in charge voted 7-2 to change the perfectly legal annexation agreement that was signed in 1988.  The city already has unmet needs, but now we’re suddenly on the hook for all this.  We discuss the book “It’s Even Worse Than it Looks,” by Mann & Ornstein.  This is a great book.  And, unlike many other books, this one includes suggestions at the end to fix the problems.  (Some really great suggestions, you can find this book at the Pikes Peak Library District.)  We discuss school strikes and walkouts.   In Oklahoma, a first grader was delighted to find her book was once owned by Blake Shelton, yes that Blake Shelton.  That means the book is 35 yrs. old.  Schools probably don’t need new books every year (like the textbook scam perpetuated on college students,) but they should be replaced more than every 35 years.  And, you know what, there should probably be enough text books for every student, too.  We end the show by previewing the ‘Efforts in Government: Advancing Principled Public Policy.’  A Koch propaganda piece.  This will probably be the main topic for next week.
